Elderberries, Honey and Neighbours
I truly love where we live. We're in a small village nestled in the hills of a farming area. The countryside is glorious, the views from the hilltops are beautiful. I love the place. More importantly, I love the people. I have never lived in a place where I have felt more welcomed. I don't expect much from people, I tend to keep myself to myself and always have. But there is a sense of kindness and community here. Last week a lady reached out on social media and said she had a great amount of Elderberries growing in her garden and would any one like some to make wine? I contacted her and asked if we could have some as I would like to make Elderberry Syrup this year. She said, "Of course!" When I came to her house, not far from ours, she was so helpful and kind. I was able to get some lovely berries and will come back next week for some more! In order to make my Elderberry Syrup, I also needed local honey.
